Witnessing first hand the numerous obstacles and challenges encountered by artists, Leonardo Builes established Hierarchy Entertainment as a means by which he could provide practical communication solutions for urban artists working in Canada.

Prior to establishing Hierarchy Entertainment, Builes played an integral part in the development of a national award ceremony recognizing the Latin American community of Canada. As an organizer of the award ceremony he administered all publicity and public relations for the annual event, developing and implementing extensive media campaigns, preparing and copy-editing press releases, annual reviews and other material such as award presentations, articles and speeches. He was also responsible for copy editing and distributing all media release material, following up with key media contacts to ensure information was received and reviewed.

During his time as an organizer of the award ceremony he also facilitated two successful Canadian debut showcase performances by leading international Latin artists.

Both performances took place at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall. The first showcase was the 2003 performance by the multi Grammy award winning ‘Queen of Merengue’ Olga Tanon. In 2004, the showcase performance by Colombian singing sensation Maia dazzled audiences, as both artists arrived in Canada exclusively for their performances at the award ceremony.

Graduating from the Journalism program at Humber College, Builes also has experience as a producer/promoter of urban music. Working with local urban artists prior to attending college, Builes would book studio time, sit in on sessions and approach radio stations negotiating airplay for artists he worked with. He has also done various club promotions in the entertainment district of downtown Toronto.

With the valuable knowledge and experience gained through his work as an award ceremony organizer, public relations coordinator and producer/promoter, Builes plans to continue working with artists, implementing effective and practical publicity and promotional campaigns in an effort to maximize opportunities for urban artists.
